How to do a career in writing industry and live along with editors?

Knowledge is usually your greatest defense. If you have a hunch that a particular publication isn’t up to par, you’re probably right. Watch for these signs:

- Editors who do not send you a contract.

- Editors who assign you several articles all at once. Before agreeing to take on more work, make sure you get paid for the first article. I’ve heard too many stories of writers who are owed thousands of dollars for multiple articles for one magazine;

In case you haven’t been paid on time for your first piece, hold off on writing any further pieces till you’ve been paid. It’s also a red flag because editors ought to want to determine how you will do on your first assignment before offering you much more: An editor who wants you to write numerous pieces prior to having proof that you are able to deliver well may be desperate for writers for a bad reason for example that none of her previous writers will create for her again.

- Web sites that promise to pay you per “click”: Each time your article is read, you’ll be paid a few cents. Most will never generate you enough revenue to see a paycheck. (Read the terms very carefully, and with a jaundiced eye.)

- Anyone who isn’t forthcoming with clear answers to your reasonable questions. If you ask, “What type of rights do you purchase?” and get a vague reply, no reply, or “I’ll have to check with my superiors,” don’t do anything till you get a solid answer. Ditto for questions about payment, publication, etc.

- Publications that solicit writers all over the location. Reputable publications and editors are inundated with submissions. Most don’t require to advertise at all, except for listings within the Writer’s Market, unless they’re brand new and writers don’t know about them yet. In case you see lots of headlines for 1 publication, especially including words like, “Want to see your operate in print?” or “Make money off your composing these days!,” watch out.

- Editors with free Internet email addresses (like Yahoo or Hotmail). Most publications have their own web sites; even if they don’t, editors ought to have Internet access via their office. Free email addresses are generally impossible to track, so you could be left within the dark if the user cancels her email and skips town.

- Any publication that is contingent upon your purchase of their item. This really is known as subsidy or vanity publishing. The National Library of Poetry, for instance, will guarantee to publish one of your poems, as long as you purchase a copy of their anthology. Legitimate publishers pay you for your composing not the other way around!

- Anyone who charges a “reading” or “editing” fee. You should never have to pay for the opportunity to have your work read and considered for publication.

- Those who promise that they will become a paying marketplace in the future. This is the carrot dangled by numerous new publications. They start with the (sometimes honest) notion that once they get “really big,” they’ll be able to afford to pay writers. Unfortunately, they generally discover out two things: They can get writers to work for free (why pay?) and they in no way get “really big.” On a number of occasions, I’ve told these start-up companies that they are able to hold onto my rsum and samples, and I’d be happy to create for them as soon as they begin paying. Despite several assurances, I’ve heard back from only one organization that made good on this promise.

Get involved with composing internet websites. You will find that numerous of them offer message boards where you can ask about publishers’ and editors’ credibility. If you ever encounter a writing scam or deadbeat publisher, be sure to let other writers know via these boards, as well. The much more writers share this kind of info, the less likely it is that the companies who prey off of naive writers will succeed.

Getting A Book Published-frequent Errors You Need To Avoid

Do you have a book that you would like to see published? If so, you may be interested in getting started right away. As soon as an author finishes their book, they want to start approaching publishers as soon as possible. While it is more than possible to take this approach, you also want to proceed with caution. There are many common mistakes that new authors make when looking to get a book published. These are not mistakes that you will not want to make.

One mistake that many authors, particularly new authors, make is assuming that others will like their book, irrespective of how it is. You will hope that your book may be a bestseller, it doesn’t imply that others will like it. You do not need to be nervous, but it’s important to not be overly positive as well. Actually, that is a good thing why you need to consider using the services of each an editor and a literary agent. On the very least, take into account asking a number of close ones or family members for their input. This can act as a mini focus group for yourself.

Giving up after the primary, second, third, or even forth rejection is another common mistake that many new authors make. It is no wonder that rejection hurts. The last thing that any author needs is somebody to state that their book isn’t good enough. With that said, a rejection is what you will possible receive. Do you know that most of the well known authors in the present day were first greeted with rejection letters? As previously said, it isn’t easy to get a book published, but don’t give up.

One of greatest mistakes made by authors looking to get their books published is with publishers. Right here is the place you wish to proceed with warning, as your chances of making a costly mistake are very high. Never submit your manuscript to a publisher with out first doing the correct research.

Another little factor that you will want to take into consideration is something that will not have an impact on a large percentage of writers, but it is still an important point to make. Do you smoke? If you do and in your office, your papers may end up smelling like cigarette smoke. Many publishers have noted this as being a major inconvenience and turnoff.

Set Your Inner Author Free

It’s amazing. As of today I’ve been writing books for 30+ years, and selling them online for nearly 15 years, and previously only in print through selling foreign licenses, or printing them myself, advertising them, and selling them either online or in classes I taught.

There is a better way. If you have something you want to say, you can put it in print, or sell it online and there is no difficult about doing that. If you don’t know where to start, there are writing coaches that can give you a hand by discussing topics, subjects, and what you are passionate about.

Just tell a provider of services what you want to say, and they’ll write it for you. There is a little company we know of that does that for English writers, www.lifeimprovementbooks.com. And another for Spanish writers, www.ipublicidades.com . And they have done work for several authors around the world for several years. They have a team of writers in English, Spanish, and French that can help you tell your story. Many companies exist to help beginning authors, and the ones that help that most are the ones who ‘draw out’ what you want to tell your readers easily.

If you’ve already created a draft of your book, you are more than half the way there. The next step involves editing, proofreading, refining, and creating a proper layout for book printing.

With these professional services type of company, the layout of your own book is relatively inexpensive, takes only a few days, and can be delivered ready to print to the printer of your choice. Don’t know which printer to use? Or, only need a few copies, or just one copy of a special book for a friend – not a problem. Don’t know what size to print. Here’s a general rule of thumb: Workbooks for workshops, A4 or 8.5″ x 11″, Executive paperback of technical value 7″ x 10″, Highest Quality Paperback for Self-Help or Fiction 6″x9″, Mass market paperback 5.5″ x 8.5″ or smaller. And yes, you can get just ONE copy printed.

In today’s book publishing industry, if you need a private edition for your family tree and history for 10 members – not a problem. If you are going to teach a private class to 4 students and you need a 500 page manual – not a problem. If you want to sell one book at a time from your website, to a person interested in it in Timbuktu – not a problem.

And if you want your book on Amazon.com for sale – or Amazon Kindle books – also not a problem. The world is changing and the book printing and distribution industry as well. And if you just want one copy for the world to remember you by, just sign it and put it in your time capsule – not a problem.

From writing, to editing, proofing, translating, typesetting, printing books, distributing online, or through Amazon – the world has changed. And the author inside of your that may have been restricted by past technological restrictions has been, set free so you can share your wisdom with the rest of the world, one copy at a time.

Become an writer – easily without stress. Fast and easy,, one printed book or a million, on the internet or on Amazon.com. Release the inner writer inside you!

Plenty of Simple Book Reviews

Dave Barry’s Money Secrets by Dave Barry: Dave Barry’s Money Secrets is one of those books that makes you laugh out loud and then read that passage to whomever is with you, and then give them the book to read when you’re done. Even though Dave Barry has retired from writing his weekly newspaper column, it’s obvious his skill at writing humor still runs strongly within him. I can continue quoting humorous passages from the book, but do yourself a favor instead, and get your own copy.

December 6 by Martin Cruz Smith: December 6 is a novel that succeeds on many levels. It’s an education into the mindset and culture of pre-war Japan. It’s an indictment of those beating the drums of war behind their own self-righteousness. Best of all, it’s a great story, and the description of Harry’s predicament is peeled back layer by layer, and by the end we’ve come to understand and sympathize with him completely. There’s a bit of Harry in all of us, trying to do the right thing while taking advantage of the situation at the same time.

Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner: With Freakonomics, Levitt and Dubner have given us a new way to look at our world. This is a short book, about 200 pages, and reads very quickly. As each story gleaned from the data unfolds, you’ll find yourself surprised, laughing, and reading passages aloud to someone else. It is like a treasure hunt, with little secrets unearthed that were there in plain sight much of the time. The authors have created a book that is both entertaining and educational. The last thing you should do, though, is take my word for it. Get a copy and find out for yourself.

Gazelle by Rikki Ducornet: Gazelle is ultimately a sad, but beautiful, book. Rikki Ducornet creates a vivid world of fragrance and sensuality, and the power those forces have on those caught in their spells. Like the magician of the story, though, it can be an empty power and just a delusion. Not even the ancient powers can control a heart and bring love where it’s not offered. Enjoy Gazelle for its adventure through the realms of sensuality and let the fragrance of this story waft to your mind. Rikki Ducornet casts a tantalizing spell.

The Hungry Tide by Amitav Ghosh: For the most part, The Hungry Tide is a compelling book about ordinary people bound together in an exotic place that can consume them all. It’s the basest of human emotions, love, jealousy, pride, and trust, that will make the difference. That’s a lesson we all can learn, again, as we follow Piya, Kanai, and Fokir into the heart of tide country.

Ironfire by David Ball: In Ironfire, David Ball has given us a prime example of exemplary historical fiction. Not only is it a realistic depiction of a faraway time and place, but he’s populated his story with interesting and believable characters and keeps the suspense ratcheted in top gear all the way. Ironfire allows a peek into different worlds that coexisted at the same time with the hatred and fanaticism that rings true to this day. It’s easy to divide the world into good and evil and be appalled at the actions of those opposed to one’s religion or way of life. Part of what David Ball has presented with this novel is the perspective from both sides that considers the other to be evil, and the justifications of their actions as being God’s or Allah’s way. In that sense, Ironfire also succeeds as precautionary tale for today with hope that we all learn from the lessons of history so that we don’t repeat the same mistakes.

Islands of Silence by Martin Booth: The chapters in this novel alternate between the present-day Alec and his story as a young man, striking out on his own as an archaeologist in 1914. The elder Alec tells of the discipline necessary to maintain his silence, the kindly doctor who wants to draw Alec out of his shell, his dreams that content or frighten him, and the horrors and evil he has seen in the past. He is a man most certainly sane, lucid in his thoughts, and convinced of the nature of evil that exists outside of his controlled environment.

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is a wonderful, entertaining, and thoroughly enjoyable novel. I am glad I came under Susanna Clarke’s enchantment and I’m eager to press this novel into the hands of family and friends and urge them to read this book.

Short Book Reviews

Beginner’s Greek by James Collins: Peter, though, is the catalyst for this novel, and his struggle to do the right thing and behave the correct way often gets in the way of his own happiness. When James Collins is moving the novel through Peter’s actions and frustrations, the romantic comedy skips along its merry path. For the most part, Beginner’s Greek is an enjoyable romp of the heart and mind. It’s not completely believable, but that’s not necessary. It’s about love, true love, and how it can overcome all obstacles. That’s what we all want to believe in. Right? Well, at least it’s true in Beginner’s Greek and we should enjoy it while we can.

Angels & Demons by Dan Brown: While some judicious editing might have made it a tighter and more focused novel, Angels & Demons is still a highly enjoyable read. For those who love plot-driven novels, and for those who love thrillers and mysteries full of strange bits of information that tie everything together, grab a copy of Angels & Demons and find a comfortable chair. It’s time well spent.

The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani: The plot in The Blood of Flowers flows smoothly and quickly. While not a novel of taut suspense, the threads of the young narrator’s life and her relationships with the different women in her life create a literary fabric that might rival the Persian carpets of the story.

The Athenian Murders by Jose Carlos Somoza: Jose Carlos Somoza does a wonderful job weaving all of this together, keeping all the mysteries beguiling as they begin to wrap themselves around each other. The reader hopes that Heracles finds the key to his murder investigation as well as hoping the translator finds the key within the story. The philosophical arguments between Heracles and Diagoras (as well as others at Plato’s Academy) become tiresome at points, yet within in them Somoza hides the key that brings everything together. The story, or stories actually, come to a surprising and satisfying conclusion, leaving no doubt as to the mastery of Somoza’s storytelling. As with all good mysteries, all the pieces fall into place in hindsight once the book comes to an end. Unpredictable, intelligent, and a tour guide through ancient Greece, The Athenian Murders is different from anything else you might read, and in the end, you’ll be glad it is.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon: When this book was initially released, it received rave reviews. After it had won awards and stayed one of the most popular books on this site, I decided I had finally had to read it. I shouldn’t have waited so long. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time should be on everyone’s reading list.

The Book of Air and Shadows by Michael Gruber: The Book of Air and Shadows never seems to take itself too seriously, which adds to its enjoyment. Michael Gruber has delivered a novel where he hides universal truths among the treasure hunt. The result is much more fun than the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Perhaps that’s his next novel.

The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl: The Dante Club is an excellent debut novel for Matthew Pearl. It’s a bit uneven at times, but once it hits its stride, it’s an entertaining and intelligent story that holds your attention until everything comes to a satisfying conclusion. A previous knowledge about Dante or the Boston poets isn’t necessary to enjoy this fine novel. I look forward to what Matthew Pearl might have in store next for us.

Bay of Souls by Robert Stone: If you read this book just following the storyline, this novel will frustrate you. If you keep peeling back the layers, more ideas bubble forth, some like little quick jabs to your mind. You can choose to wander aimlessly through this book, or you can put your soul on the line and dive in deeper into the Bay of Souls.

Watch The Ghost Whisperer Tv Show Online

The ghost whisperer TV show is a well known drama series in America which has been aired from the year 2005. The lead character of the series is Melinda Gordon cast by Jennifer Love Hewitt. In the story Melinda stays at a small town and is the owner of an antique shop. She has recently been married and her husband is a paramedic. She handles the shop along with ghosts as well as keeps her marriage strong.

Melinda has a unique ability wherein she can communicate with ghosts who are stuck in our world. She usually communicates with them to understand why they haven’t moved onto to the next world and tries to understand what went wrong. She also goes out of her way at times to fulfil their quests so that they can peacefully move on to the next world. This unique ability to talk with ghosts was passed onto Melinda from her grandmother who had trained Melinda in the use of this power.

One main thing which has made the series a success is the character of Melinda which has been done by Jennifer Love Hewitt. Another thing is the plot of every episode which is very thrilling and excellent. The viewers are made to catch up every scene in spite of the commercials in between. And at the end of each episode the viewers are left expecting what happens in the next episode. This quality of the series has made it as a hit show among viewers.

In addition to the excellence of Jennifer love Hewitt as Melinda the other supporting characters also prove to the success of the series. The characters of Jim Clancy who is the husband of Melinda is cast by David Conrad and the role of Andrea Marino is done by Aisha Taylor excels equally as that of Melinda. Both these roles are performed to perfection by both these actors with class. Hence it’s rather like watching a Hollywood movie than a TV show.

Though in spite of all the best things about the show quiet a number of critics don’t this show as a deserving one and have given terrible reviews. One of these reviews by critics is that Jennifer love Hewitt’s acting is not up to the mark and is weak and the popularity of the show is only because of her skin shows. Also many feel that the show has got the same sequence of her finding a new ghost in her life and she searching for the answers for the problem and at last finding it is repeated in every episode.

Watch Free NCIS Online

NCIS or Naval Criminal Investigation Service is a crime thriller aired on CBS. The criminal activities and the investigations are not of general sort because crime in the face of society is not shown here. The darkness among the Marine corps and Navy is the subject to deal with. A network which is extended globally conducted by some specially trained and equipped persons works to fight crime, is shown in the show. An episode is 45 minutes long and variety of forbidden deeds like murders, espionage, kidnappings, stealing of marine submarines, cross border terrorism etc hold the rapt attention of the viewers.

This unique team is led by an extraordinary man Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs an intelligent and tough man who can go to any extend even if molding rules to go to the bottom end of investigation. Gibbs’s team consists of some very talented people with specialized skills. A former homicide detective with unthinkable instincts called Tony Dinozzo is with Gibbs. Abby Sciuto is the lady mainly in black color dresses with tattoos and piercings in her body with traditional gothic hair style. Her looks are very deceiving as she is a first class forensic expert with a happy go lucky attitude. Dr. Donald Ducky Mallard is the medical examiner working under Gibbs. The viewers have seen a computer wizard, special agent Tim McGee and a former United States Secret Service Agent Caitlin Kate Todd whose wit and personality empowers the team a lot. The final episode of season 2 shows the death of special agent Caitlin Kate Todd in the hands of a terrorist. Kate’s place was filled up in the 3rd season by a lady of very strong will called Ziva David an agent of Mossad.

The crime detection styles, action sequences and overall the acting of the crew is just superb. You will never feel that you are watching a TV show. It is a fun to watch the interactions of the team members among themselves. Casual approach with humor ties a strong bond among them.

Each and every character is so different from each and other that it seems like a family of odd ones together. Yet they all function superbly in the team. Agent Gibbs is the supremo of the team but his inclination to his fellows is more of like a father figure. Detective Dinozzo feels strongly for agent David but her responses are mixed.

The cases the team has to solve are strange and very interesting. The most entertaining part is to get the key person of every criminal activity, so each episode is worthy watching for.

Viewers who love crime story will get to see the dark world of military and will be fond of the agents more than watching the criminal activities.
