Do You Attend MLM Opportunity Meetings?
Most every MLM company trains their distributors to have opportunity meetings. When I got started in the business, I did exactly what my sponsor told me to do: attend meetings and bring guests. Every week I went out and tried connivence family and friends to attend meetings. It took some time, but I realized that this is an obsolete business practice that often produced few results. It may also result in you losing a good friend, or alienating you from your family.
A couple of times a week, I leave my home office and work from a local coffee with wifi access. This allows me to clear my head, and sometimes meet with local team members. I have spent the past couple of hours catching up on some emails and planning some team training. Frequently, I see distributors from other companies in the store, and today I saw one carry in several boxes and containers into the back meeting room. She was joined by two teammates, and over the next hour they transformed the room into a product showroom. Guests started to arrive, and they were shown the business opportunity. It was obvious to me that at least two of the six guests did not want to be there; we have all seen this look when at these events.

Not long ago, I was doing the same thing. Two nights a week, I would attend and often facilitate these opportunity meetings. I spent every week calling, convincing, and sometimes dragging friends, family, and people I met to these events. I picked people up, offered to buy them lunch or dinner, and drove them home just to get them to attend the opportunity meeting. While these meetings did provide some results, more often than not people had little interest in intending. Most of the time they went just to get me to stop bugging them about my business opportunity, and if they did join my business, they never duplicated.
Building a business does not have to be this hard!
Online marketing has opened many doors, and allowed me to market to a much larger audience. I now directly market to individuals who are seeking to start a home based business, and instead of chasing them they now chase me! Company business meetings have helped me to sponsor some reps into my company. However, planning for the events, facilitating, and attending with guests is very time consuming and sometimes yields few results. As I write this article, I just noticed a distributor from another company starting to carry her display items toward the meeting room. It appears she is here to host an event too. I suspect that her results will be as low as the first presentation.
Online attraction marketing is a much more effective way to build a business. Instead of dragging people to meetings, annoying friends and family, and chasing everyone you meet, learn how to create an endless supply of qualified prospects who want to join your business.
