How to Prevent Stretch Marks

The thought of developing stretch marks can worry any person. Many people affiliate them with maternity, but they can also be induced by weightlifting, weight gain and sometimes puberty, anything that can cause the skin to stretch somewhat quickly.

If you already have striae you are plausibly searching for a means to lighten stretch marks. While removing them completely is tough unless you have a surgical procedure, it is possible to dilute their appearance.

There are a variety of skin treatments that can help reduce the appearance, for instance micro dermabrasion or laser therapy. Some turn to more aggressive surgeries like a tummy tuck, which is a bit more common after pregnancy or weight loss. But there are less aggressive treatments as well, the most common of which is using a good stretch mark cream. The most important thing to know when applying a stretch mark cream is that the cream needs to be applied every single day for a a few months for it to reduce their appearance.

Stretch marks may be especially trying during pregnancy because the body is already going through so many changes. The weight gain itself is trying for many women and there is always the stress of dropping off that pregnancy weight quickly after the pregnancy as well. But it is essential to gain the appropriate amount of weight to have a healthy baby. Not gaining enough weight can cause the baby to be born early or to be born underweight. Although putting on too much weight can cause other health problems like backaches, vericose veins and high blood pressure. Gaining too much weight can also cause a higher probability of developing stretch marks, and making it harder to lose the extra weight after the baby is born.

If you are afraid of developing stretch marks, whether during maternity or before beginning a weightlifting routine, your best defense is prevention. It’s best to take precautions and use a good stretch mark cream to prevent stretch marks. Keeping them from forming works better than working to remove them after they have already developed.
